USPA NEWS - Everyone that is a Boilermaker fan had great expectation for BIG 10 opener against Minnesota Golden Gophers. Had you just seen the score one would have thought it was a battle to the end. Not so much! How ever the Boilermakers made a gallant effort to climb back within 7. Purdue coach Jeff Broham said we just have to get better in a lot of ways. To make the day even little worse, Purdue lost two big play makers in the game!
Purdues head coach Jeff Brohm said,"we were out played, out coached in the first half." Coach our passing defense was very poor as we had receivers running all over the field undefended. He was extremely disappointed with what should have been a winnable game for Boilermakers. Minnesota's Sophomore QB, #2 Tanner Morgan was 16/17 with 298 in the first half. He finished 21/22 with 396 & 4 TD's on the day. If you were only to see the score, one would think it was a very close game. Not so much! The Golden Gophers dominated the time of play. Only late late in the 4th quarter need Purdue make a last minute run failing short by a TD 38-31. Another big downer on the day for Boilermakers was when their starting QB Elijah Sindelar and WR Rondale Moore go down the same play. Sindelar gets hit in the back after attempting a pass to Moore. Moore goes down with what appears to b a very serious knee injury. Freshman Jack Plummer takes over and finishes the day 23/41 with 246 yds and 2 TD's & 2 INT's. Purdue rushing attack was lead by King Doerue who had a personal best of 20 carries for 94 yds & 2 TD's and a 4 catch for 32 yds & 1 TD. David Bell led the Boilermakers with 8 catches and 114 yds.
